Meeting Fr. Cletus

We had our first meeting with Fr. Cletus at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Both of us like him a lot - he's fairly young and energetic and has an interesting background. We'll start the real work on April 18, since he's busy right now (because of Easter) and has to prepare for the process as well - we're his first wedding preparation in the Austin Diocese.

I went to turn in our letter at Parks and Rec this morning. And, yes, I was able to turn in only one of the 56 letters we had written. I could have turned them all in, but they would have just bundled them together and assigned them only one chance in the lottery. We're kinda bummed that we weren't able to stuff the box, but we remain optimistic that we'll get at least one of the facilities we listed. Many, many, many thanks to everyone who volunteered their sponsorship.

In My Dreams

I've started dreaming about the wedding - I must be getting nervous. Last night I dreamt that Step and I were waiting for the service to begin, but we weren't at a church, we were in some place that looked like a community center (kinda like the Wichita Falls Convention Center). The scary part was that we hadn't done nearly the planning and prep work we were suppose to have done. For example, someone mentioned that they would order pizza for the reception as soon as the ceremony was over - YIKES!!! - It is definitely time to contact the caterers.

On the plus side, we were both there and I was wearing a very nice dress....though I'm pretty sure it was purple.

Other City Facilities

We went and looked at a couple more city properties. Both Mayfield Park and Common's Ford Ranch have definite potential, although the Zilker Clubhouse is still our first choice.

We have received great feedback on our request for addresses and will be delivering close to 60 letters to the city.

Ballot Stuffing

Request Letter for Zilker Clubhouse

It's time to start putting together our letters of request for the Zilker Clubhouse - the venue of choice for our reception. We're trying to "stuff the ballot box" by submitting as many letters as we can find volunteers to address them with. So far we've gotten a great response from our friends in Austin and my family in various locations around the US - I believe we'll be able to submit at least 20 request letters (and probably even more than that).

Many, many thanks and kudos to Meredith, my sis and MoH - she's made some calls, researched addresses, and has already written a request letter to Parks and Rec requesting the clubhouse for us. She's also VERY good at asking what's next and what she can do to help - it's hard to imagine having a better Maid of Honor :-)

We got a church!

I finally spoke with the priest at Holy Cross. Stepan and I will meet with him on March 28th. Father Cletus did say that there were no conflicts on the date and time we want to get married.

Possible Vacation Home for the Honeymoon I think I've found a good place to take the family for our honeymoon. We can rent this entire property for $800/night though we don't really need space for 45 people! It seems centrally located to the Ozarks and looks like a beautiful property.
